Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) is pleased to announce that almost 50 submissions were received for its coveted Awards of Excellence program. The Awards program was established in 2003 to celebrate green roof, and later green wall projects that exemplify the best, most innovative and multi-faceted projects. The 2011 Awards of Excellence will be presented on Dec. 2, 2011 at the Awards of Excellence Luncheon as part of CitiesAlive, the 9th Annual Green Roof and Wall Conference which takes place November 30 to Dec 2, 2011. The focus of the conference is on restoring urban waters, and Green Roofs for Healthy Cities is proud to be working with the City of Philadelphia, which is planning to invest $2 billion on green infrastructure solutions, and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, as co-hosts of CitiesAlive! Awards submissions are judged by a multi-disciplinary panel of experts on functionality, ecological value, economic value, aesthetic value, and sensitivity to surroundings. The judges for this year are as follows:
“There are many extremely competent submissions this year”, said Jeffrey L. Bruce, Chair of Green Roofs for Healthy Cities. “Good luck to all of the contestants. We look forward to seeing many of you on the podium at CitiesAlive in December!” he added. MEDIA CONTACTS: Steven W.
