Backgrounder
On May 26th the City of Toronto passed a new green roof by-law with overwhelming support (see the press release). This by-law, under the new authority of the City of Toronto Act, 2006 requires green roofs on certain types of new buildings and establishes a standard for green roof design and construction in Toronto. The purpose of the Toronto Green Roof Construction Standard is to provide requirements and recommendations that will allow a designer to design a green roof that will meet the City’s minimum requirements for green roof construction while also meeting the Ontario Building Code(OBC) requirements for the remainder of the building. This Standard does not replace or alter any existing Code requirements, or define a singular code compliant green roof design.

This meeting will provide you with the opportunity to learn more about the by-law, its terms and references, its implementation date and its impact on existing and upcoming projects from the City of Toronto staff who crafted the by-law. Additionally, local green roof companies showcasing their products and services will be part of a trade show during the evening event.
