G RHC Corporate and Individual members are invited to volunteer on a number of committees that provide strategic input and advice on issues, and develop new products, such as professional courses and tools like the GreenSave Calculator. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). RESEARCH – DR. BILL RETZLAFF, CHAIR, SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY EDWARDSVILLE
This committee selects annual Green Roof Research Awards of Excellence winners, oversees the Tree of Knowledge (searchable database) and reviews research track paper proposals for our annual conference. Open to all member types. POLICY – DR. HAMID KARIMI, CHAIR, GOVERNMENT OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, DEPARTMENT OF THE ENVIRONMENT This committee sets priorities for local market development coordinators, selects papers for the policy track of our annual conference and oversees the updating of our Policy Course. Open to all member types. TRAINING AND ACCREDITATION COMMITTEE – JEFFREY L. BRUCE, CHAIR, JEFFREY BRUCE AND COMPANY Currently overseeing the development of an accreditation Test for the Green Roof Professional (GRP) designation. In the past, its members have worked together to develop courses in support of the GRP designation. Open to all member types with proven subject matter expertise. CORPORATE MEMBERS' COMMITTEE – OSCAR WARMERDAM, CHAIR, SEMPERGREEN This committee reviews and comments on the various sub-committee work, including Growing Media, Technical Standards, and Green Walls. (see below) GRP ACCREDITATION PROGRAM COMMITTEE – VIRGINIA RUSSELL, CHAIR, UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI This committee works with GRHC staff in the continuous development of the Green Roof Professional (GRP) examination, updates training courses, and reviews other issues related to the GRP designation. TECHNICAL STANDARDS – DAVID YOCCA, CHAIR, CONSERVATION DESIGN FORUM This sub-committee is focused on developing two Standards in partnership with the Single Ply Roofing Institute through the American National Standards Institute for wind and fire uplift. CONFERENCE COMMITTEE – ALLAN WINGFIELD, CHAIR, COLBOND This sub-committee selects papers/presentations for the Design Track for our Annual Conference. GREEN WALLS – REUBEN FREED, CHAIR, GREENSCREEN Developed the Green Walls 101 Design Course and the on-line introductory green wall paper, and oversees the newly formed GreenWall Research Fund, designed to stimulate scientific research on green wall performance. INTEGRATED SITE AND BUILDING WATER MANAGEMENT – LYNDA WIGHTMAN, CHAIR, HUNTER INDUSTRIES This sub-committee is seeking process solutions that maximize economic value by harvesting on-site water resources to facilitate energy savings through green roofs. They are developing a study to research the economic performance and technical design of green roof projects utilizing economically available non-potable sources of water, such as rainwater, air conditioning condensate, cooling tower blow down and grey water. GROWING MEDIUM – CHUCK FRIEDRICH, CHAIR, CAROLINA STALITE COMPANY Developing detailed performance standards for growing medium. ROOFTOP URBAN FOOD PRODUCTION – KEITH AGOADA, CHAIR, SKY VEGETABLES The objective of this committee is to gather and organize information on rooftop, wall, and other building-integrated food production to create a course on building-integrated food production. |
