Oscar Warmerdam

Born and raised in the Dutch flower bulb and perennial fields, Oscar was 19 when he moved to the US to land in Atlanta Georgia. From there he moved throughout Minnesota, Illinois and back to Georgia holding a number of sales, marketing and business development positions including a senior management role at the largest nationwide flower bulb and perennial importer.

In 2003 Oscar started Moerings USA Waterplant Nursery in Virginia, modeled after the largest worldwide Waterplant Nursery in Holland. It quickly grew to be the largest waterplant and most successful aquatic supplier in the US and remains so today. In 2006, Oscar and his business partner joined forces with Corne Van Garderen, the founder and President of Sempergreen Europe (the largest and fastest growing Green Roof provider in the world (300 acres installed in 2009 alone). In 2007, Oscar and his partner brought the Sempergreen Sedum Vegetative Mats product line to the US as they saw an interesting link between green roofs and aquatic plant oriented bio-swales for storm water runoff purposes. In only 3 years they grew this exciting Green Roof product into the a company that is now the largest and fastest growing Green Roof Provider in the US with over 50 acres of sellable inventory in 2010.
