The Green Roofs Tree of Knowledge is a full-featured database on research and policy related to green roof infrastructure.  This database is composed of detailed summaries of research and policy papers in English from around the world. More information is available on the Tree of Knowledge home page.

How do I use the site to find the summaries I want?
You can search the database in three ways:

1) to browse the summaries by category, click on the Browse button under SUMMARIES in the main menu and follow the instructions.
2) to search all summaries for a specific  term, use the Search box under SUMMARIES in the main menu.
3) to conduct an advance search using a variety of search parameters, click on Advanced Search under SUMMARIES in the main menu and follow the instructions.

How do I contribute a new summary?
If you know of a research paper that should be included in this data-base, you are invited to summarize it and submit it for approval by the administrator. If you want to sign up as a contributor, please email us at grtok@greenroofs.org. Once you are signed up as a contributor, you can click on Add a Summary in the main menu and then select the major category you wish to contribute to. This will bring you to the appropriate template and you can begin to enter information from the paper you are summarizing. When you reach the end of the template, click on Save Summary. The Administrator will be notified of your submission and will either approve it as is or contact you by email for further information. Once your summary is approved, it will appear in the database in the appropriate category.

What if I want to suggest a paper to add to the database, but I don't want to summarize it myself?
The Green Roofs Tree of Knowledge grows through voluntary contributions from users like you. You may be aware of a research paper or policy initiative that should be included in the database. If you are not in a position to summarize it yourself, please  send your suggestion to the Administrator at grtok@greenroofs.org.

How do I obtain a paper that is summarized in this database?
Many of the papers summarized in the Green Roofs Tree of Knowledge were presented at one of the annual Greening Rooftops for Sustainable Communities Conferences.  The proceedings of each conference, including pdfs of the papers presented, are available in CD format.
